Should you fly into Don Mueang or Suvarnabhumi in Bangkok?

Bangkok · Updated 2026-08 · From MeTravel's own trips

If speed and convenience matter most, Don Mueang (DMK) is usually easier. Suvarnabhumi (BKK) is bigger and more modern, but involves longer walks.

  • Don Mueang: a small, compact airport. When it's quiet, immigration can take as little as 5 minutes. Baggage claim is quick, with little walking.
  • Suvarnabhumi: it's a long walk from the gate to immigration. When many international flights land at once, immigration can be very crowded.
  • At Suvarnabhumi, you still have some way to go from baggage claim to the pickup area.
