What can you do in London at night?

London · Updated 2026-09 · Official information

London has plenty to do after dark, from views to food:

  • Watch the sunset from Primrose Hill, or have cocktails at rooftop bars such as Sky Garden or 12th Knot.
  • Eat at a classic pub such as The Grenadier or Sherlock Holmes, or a smart restaurant such as Rules or The Wolseley. Then stroll Soho and Covent Garden, buzzing with street performers and bars.
  • Walk the South Bank along the Thames past Tower Bridge, Shakespeare's Globe and Big Ben lit up at night, or take a dinner cruise on the river.
  • See the city from above on the London Eye or the IFS Cloud cable car across the Thames.
  • The British Museum and Natural History Museum have late openings that are quieter than daytime. Or take an evening open-top bus tour with See London by Night or Big Bus Tours.
