Where to stay in London on a budget

London · Updated 2026-10 · From MeTravel's own trips

  • Camden: Camden Market and Regent's Canal, plenty of hostels and budget hotels, and a young atmosphere.
  • King's Cross: a rail hub with many budget options, handy if you're continuing by Eurostar from St Pancras.
  • Angel & Islington: a residential area full of restaurants and pubs, usually cheaper than the West End.

Money-saving tips:

  • Stay a few minutes' walk from a Tube station on the same line as the places you plan to visit.
  • Pay with a contactless card or Oyster to benefit from the daily fare cap.
  • Many of London's major museums are free to enter, which cuts sightseeing costs a lot.
