Where should I stay in Singapore on my first visit?

Singapore · Updated 2026-10 · From MeTravel's own trips

Singapore is small and the MRT is excellent, so choose by budget and stay near an MRT station.

  • Marina Bay: near Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sands; stunning but the most expensive.
  • Chinatown: mid-range prices, lots of hawker food, good MRT links.
  • Bugis – Kampong Glam: youthful, café-filled, Haji Lane.
  • Orchard: shopping heaven, mid-range to luxury hotels.
  • Little India: cheapest and buzzing, good for tight budgets.

Note: rooms in Singapore are pricey for the region; budget hotels often have windowless rooms, so read the description carefully.
