All three have good snow at Lunar New Year (January–February); choose by crowds, snow quality and budget.
- Japan: the best powder and many English-language lessons; no Lunar New Year holiday, so less overloaded; the most expensive.
- Korea: close to Seoul, easy to reach, good for beginners and families; machine-made snow; busy during Seollal.
- China: new, modern resorts and lower prices; but the holiday week is the biggest travel rush of the year, so resorts, trains and rooms are crowded and pricey.
- Complete beginners: Korea or Japan (Gala Yuzawa, Niseko) are the easiest places to start.
Note: Vietnamese passport holders need a visa for all three; apply early, as visa centres usually close around Lunar New Year.
