"Ba Na is a hill station an hour west of Da Nang, reached by cable car. One ticket covers the ride up and everything at the top, so the day is simpler than it looks: you go up, walk between the bridge, the French village and the gardens, and come back down.
Go early. The first cars run from the morning and the queue grows steadily; by mid-morning at weekends you can wait a long time both for the cable car and for a clear photo on the Golden Bridge. Arriving at opening usually means an hour or so before the crowds arrive.
Dress for a different climate. The top sits well above the coast and is often ten degrees cooler than Da Nang, with cloud rolling through even when the beach is bright. Bring a light layer; the view can disappear entirely for an hour and then come back.
Whether it is worth it depends on what you want. If you like a designed, photogenic day out, it delivers exactly that. If you are looking for untouched nature, the mountain is built up and busy, and the money is better spent on Son Tra or the Marble Mountains."
