A day trip is enough to see river life; to properly see Cai Rang floating market, you need to stay overnight in Can Tho.
- Day trip: My Tho – Ben Tre, about 2 hours from Saigon, boat rides through coconut canals, coconut candy workshops.
- Overnight: Can Tho, about 3.5–4 hours away; Cai Rang floating market runs from 5 to 8 am.
- Group tours are convenient and cheap; private tours suit travellers who want time for photos.
Note: the floating market has fewer boats each year, so go as early as you can.
