- Muong Hoa Valley (Lao Chai – Ta Van): the best rice terraces near town, beautiful in both water season and harvest season.
- Cat Cat Village: waterfall, water wheel, suspension bridge and H'Mong houses; an entry ticket is required.
- Fansipan summit: morning sea of clouds, pagodas and the summit Buddha statue; reached by cable car.
- O Quy Ho Pass: sunsets and clouds, about 15 km from Sa Pa; best in autumn and winter.
- Ham Rong Mountain: panoramic views over town, flower gardens and a cloud-viewing platform.
- Stone Church and Sa Pa Lake: best in early morning and when lit up in the evening.
- Ta Phin: a Red Dao village with quieter terraces.
Tips: shoot early morning or late afternoon for soft light and fewer people. Ask before photographing locals, especially children, and don't give money or sweets in exchange for photos. You can rent ethnic costumes for photos in Cat Cat or in town.
