Fansipan (3,143 m) is the highest peak in Indochina. The easiest way up is the Sun World Fansipan Legend cable car.
- From Sa Pa station in the town centre, take the Muong Hoa mountain train to the cable car station, or take a taxi there.
- The cable car runs over 6 km and takes about 15 minutes.
- From the top station, climb about 600 stone steps (20–30 minutes) or take the short funicular (extra fee) to the summit.
- Reference prices in early 2026: adults about 850,000 VND return, children 1–1.4 m tall about 550,000 VND; the Muong Hoa train and summit funicular cost extra or come in combo tickets. Low-season promotions are common.
- Go in the morning, when skies are clearer and clouds sit below the peak; check the forecast, as fog can hide the view completely.
- The summit is much colder and windier than town; bring a warm layer.
Hiking Fansipan instead usually takes 2 days and 1 night and requires a licensed local guide.
Prices change by season; check the official Sun World Fansipan Legend website before you go.
