First trip to Paris: should you take a flight landing at 21:00?

This answer is written for Vietnamese passport holders.

Not recommended, unless the ticket is 3–5 million VND cheaper or more.

  • Immigration and baggage claim take about 1–1.5 hours, so you leave the airport around 22:30. You still pay the full room rate that night just to sleep a few hours.
  • The RER B train from Charles de Gaulle (CDG) to central Paris is quiet at night and can feel unsafe for first-timers.
  • A taxi or Uber at night costs about €60–80 (1.6–2.2 million VND), close to what you saved on the ticket.
  • After a 12–15 hour flight, finding your way to the hotel at midnight is exhausting and affects the following days.

If you do take this flight: book a hotel right by CDG with a free shuttle for the first night, and head into the city the next morning.
