Where to stay in Venice with kids or on a budget

Venice · Updated 2026-10 · From MeTravel's own trips

  • With young children: Castello. Close to the main sights in San Marco but much quieter, with parks and space for kids to play.
  • On a budget: Mestre, on the mainland. About 10–20 minutes by train or bus to the old town, with noticeably cheaper rooms.
  • For peace and quiet: Giudecca island, facing the old town with lovely views of San Marco.
  • Beyond the old town are Murano (glass-making), Burano (colourful houses) and Lido (beaches, best in summer); most people visit them on day trips rather than stay.
