October to December and March–April are best: cooler with little rain or typhoons.
- January–February: early cherry blossoms at Yangmingshan and Wuling; cold and damp in Taipei.
- May–June: the "plum rain" season.
- July–September: hot and typhoon season; flights and trains may be delayed.
- Lunar New Year: many shops close and high-speed rail tickets are hard to get.
