Where should I stay in Hong Kong on my first visit?

Hong Kong · Updated 2026-10 · From MeTravel's own trips

Tsim Sha Tsui is the most convenient base: harbour views, near the Star Ferry and several MTR lines.

  • Tsim Sha Tsui: shopping, the Avenue of Stars and the Symphony of Lights show.
  • Mong Kok: cheaper, night markets and Ladies' Market; crowded and noisy.
  • Central – Sheung Wan: the business heart, handy for Victoria Peak.
  • Causeway Bay: shopping and dining, many mid-range hotels.

Note: Hong Kong hotel rooms are tiny and expensive; book early and check the room size.
