What's special about Christmas in Paris?

Paris · Updated 2026-10 · From MeTravel's own trips

Paris isn't famous for Christmas markets like Germany, but its lights and department stores are well worth seeing.

  • Champs-Élysées: Christmas lights from late November to early January.
  • Galeries Lafayette: a giant tree under the glass dome, plus a free rooftop view of Paris.
  • The decorated windows of Galeries Lafayette and Printemps on Boulevard Haussmann.
  • Small markets: Tuileries Garden, Saint-Germain-des-Prés church, La Défense.
  • Disneyland Paris: Christmas festivities, about 40 minutes from the centre on RER A.

Note: on 25 December many museums and restaurants close; book early if you want dinner on Christmas Eve.
