How do I apply for a Korean tourist visa on my own?

South Korea · Updated 2026-10 · Official information

This answer is written for Vietnamese passport holders.

Vietnamese travellers need a Korean tourist visa (C-3-9), applied for through the Korea Visa Application Center (KVAC), not directly at the embassy.

  • Where: KVAC Hanoi for provinces from Da Nang northwards; KVAC Ho Chi Minh City for southern provinces.
  • Main documents: passport valid over 6 months plus a copy; ID card copy; application form with photo; employment documents (contract, business licence...); payslips and 3 months of bank statements; property papers. Vietnamese documents need translation and notarisation.
  • Fees (guide): USD 20 for single entry, plus a KVAC service fee of VND 390,000 (cash, non-refundable).
  • Processing: usually 7–16 working days.
  • 5–10 year multiple-entry visas: only for applicants meeting priority criteria (income, previous OECD travel, degrees...).

Note: Vietnamese passport holders can't use the K-ETA; beware of sites claiming to issue Korean "e-visas" to individual travellers.
