Northeast China has the deepest snow and coldest temperatures, ideal for pairing skiing with the Harbin Ice Festival.
- Yabuli (Heilongjiang): a large, long-established resort about 2–3 hours from Harbin.
- Changbaishan (Jilin): a modern ski resort with hot springs and forest-mountain scenery.
- Beidahu (Jilin): good snow near Jilin city, famous for rime-frosted trees along the Songhua River.
- Altay (Xinjiang): top-quality powder, further away, for confident skiers.
- 6–7 day idea: Harbin (ice festival) 2–3 nights → Yabuli 2 nights → fly home.
Note: temperatures can drop to -20°C to -30°C; you need a thick down coat, gloves and a face mask on the slopes; phone batteries drain very fast.
