When does the Nuremberg Christmas market open in 2026?
Germany has thousands of Christmas markets; the four most famous are Nuremberg, Cologne, Dresden and Munich.
- Nuremberg (Christkindlesmarkt): 27 Nov – 24 Dec 2026, opening ceremony 5:30 pm on 27 Nov; open 10 am–9 pm, closing at 2 pm on 24 Dec. Famous for Lebkuchen gingerbread and Nuremberg sausages.
- Cologne: several markets; the best-known sits in front of Cologne Cathedral, usually mid-November to 23 December.
- Dresden (Striezelmarkt): one of the oldest, famous for Stollen; usually late November to 24 December.
- Munich: on Marienplatz, usually from around 20 November to 24 December.
- Smaller gem: Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a storybook old town.
Note: most German markets close from 24 December; don't plan market visits for 25–26 December.
MeTravel will provide updates on its fanpage regarding when the market will open.
